Jeffery’s and White Timber

Jeffery’s Track is a popular 4WD trail located in the Wellington Range. This track spans approximately 14 kilometres and can be accessed from Lachlan, south of New Norfolk, or from Crabtree, south of Hobart. It’s rated as medium difficulty, making it suitable for four-wheel drive vehicles and trail bikes only. Some experience with off-road driving is recommended due to the presence of boggy soils, rocks, and sand.

The track crosses the Wellington Park from Lachlan in the Derwent Valley to Crabtree in the Huon Valley. Along the drive, you’ll encounter beautiful bush scenery and great views over the Huon and Derwent Valleys. This makes it a favourite among nature lovers and off-road enthusiasts.

The track was originally created for emergency vehicles following Hobart’s historic 1967 fires. Today, it’s open for recreational use and offers a rugged and moderately challenging journey that provides panoramic views over both the Derwent and Huon Valleys, with stretches of stunning Tasmanian Bush in between.

Whether you’re an experienced off-roader or a beginner looking for a challenge, Jeffery’s Track offers an exciting and scenic adventure in the heart of Tasmania.

The falls are best seen in winter and are often completely dry in the summer and early autumn months.

Swanston Track

The Swanston 4WD Track is a popular off-road trail located on the East Coast of Tasmania. It stretches from Runnymede, north of the small rural township of Sorell on the Tasman Highway, to Little Swanport. The track is known for its steep descents and rocky terrain, offering a challenging experience for 4WD enthusiasts. The total length of the track is just under 33 kilometres, and it typically takes approximately 2 to 3 hours to complete. It’s recommended to be accompanied by another vehicle and carry recovery gear due to the track’s difficulty, especially after heavy rain during winter months.
